Background

The client turned to us to create a unique platform connecting globetrotters with local brands seamlessly. The platform named Localway should offer a novel and personalized way of enhancing travel experiences. The concept was nothing short of groundbreaking, allowing travelers to meticulously plan their trips and unlock the goods assortment of local designers. In doing so, buyers could order customized ensembles that awaited them at their destination. Thus, Localway merges fashion and travel in a unique way.

The project was not an enhancement of an existing system but a journey of creation from its inception. The Peiko team started with the conceptualization of the idea, traversed the enlightening phase of discovery, delved into the intricacies of UX/UI design, and culminated in meticulous development. Also, Localaway underwent thorough quality assurance and was fortified with DevOps expertise. This development journey was from idea to realization, with each phase adding to the project's effectiveness and value.

What we had to do

The client's primary request revolved around creating a user-friendly platform where travelers could easily choose, purchase, and verify clothing orders while collaborating with local designers.

However, the project's scope extended beyond mere convenience. The complexity was laid in ensuring the platform can effectively manage diverse aspects of the user journey, including payment processing and handling returns. This became especially crucial, given the inherent variability in clothing sizes, which often leads to discrepancies and necessitates a seamless return process. As a result, the project needed to give users confidence in their purchases and ensure that their experience would be smooth and reliable from selection to delivery.

What was done

To implement a client’s idea best, a minimum viable product (MVP) was rapidly developed and launched within three months. It helped us to test the hypothesis and make well-informed decisions concerning the development process.

We included the smooth integration of Stripe for hassle-free payments and Shippo for efficient delivery logistics. The incorporation of Facebook and Google login options enhanced user convenience. A comprehensive admin panel allowed for effortless website management, while an integrated auto-emailing system improved communication. Implementing a PWA ensured optimal performance, even with limited internet connectivity. The project demonstrated agility in adapting to changes and introduced dynamic price calculations based on maps and distances provided by AI API. Moreover, the entire project underwent UX/UI design, with multiple design changes based on a significant pivot in the project's direction.

Localaway has a range of essential components. These are the main page, catalog pages, seamless payment terminal integration, personalized cabinets for buyers and sellers, detailed item pages, and a streamlined checkout process. Also, Localaway has a robust admin panel and various static pages. All these components contribute to a well-rounded and functional platform.

For this project, we use a robust technical stack, including PHP (Laravel), Vue.js (Nuxt.js), MySQL, AWS, HTML, CSS, RestAPI, and integrated services such as Stripe, Shippo, and Figma. This technology stack facilitated fast and reliable development, ensuring a smooth launch and the ability to expand as the project evolved.

Our objective was to design a user-centric platform that not only caters to the unique needs of travelers but transforms the way they experience shopping during their journeys. Integrated the Stripe payment system
In the quest to provide a streamlined and secure financial experience, our team embarked on the task of integrating the Stripe payment system into the platform. The integration of Stripe was executed with meticulous precision, guaranteeing that individuals could navigate the platform with ease and confidently conduct their financial transactions. Added AI API to offer people the goods they might like
In our relentless pursuit of delivering a personalized and engaging experience, we harnessed the remarkable potential of AI APIs, particularly from Google and Facebook, alongside the powerful capabilities of Google Maps. Our mission was to provide users with a uniquely curated selection of goods and content, ensuring that every interaction with the platform resonated with their individual preferences and interests.
Implemented a shipping management platform
To ensure a seamless and reliable user experience, we implemented a comprehensive Shippo delivery management platform. This strategic move was instrumental in efficiently overseeing the intricate logistics of item delivery. So, every step of the logistics, from order processing to shipping, tracking, and delivery, was orchestrated flawlessly. As a result, users of Localaway know that their chosen items will be delivered with utmost care and efficiency.
Developed admin panel for website management
In our pursuit of creating a platform that caters to both users and administrators, we developed a robust and expanded admin panel. This innovative tool was meticulously crafted to empower efficient website management. The admin panel allowed for seamless and efficient content updates, ensuring that the platform could evolve and adapt in real time. From adding and editing content to managing user accounts and interactions, the admin panel became the nexus of control, enhancing the agility and responsiveness of the platform.
Added auto-emailing system
Furthermore, we have integrated an automated emailing system. We elevated the platform from a static interface to a dynamic and responsive environment where users felt more than informed; they felt connected and engaged. It was a strategic move that elevated the user experience to new heights, making every interaction with the platform an engaging and enriching journey.
Created a Progressive Web Application (PWA)
We develop a Progressive Web Application (PWA) that guarantees exceptional platform performance, particularly in regions with limited internet connectivity. The PWA was designed to transcend the limitations of traditional web applications, providing a seamless and immersive experience on mobile devices. It enabled users to access the platform quickly, interact with content effortlessly, and enjoy the same level of performance and responsiveness as if they were using a native mobile app.
