Background

Our client approached us with an existing Poof marketplace project. The existing codebase presented stability and performance concerns. To ensure a seamless and reliable user experience, a focus on code refinement and optimization was essential.

The marketplace's UI lacked the modern aesthetics and intuitive design that today's consumers expect. A complete redesign was necessary to create a visually appealing and user-friendly platform. Furthermore, the payment systems needed to be reintegrated into the updated code. We also added robust POS systems for enhanced compliance.

What we had to do

Our team conducted a business discovery phase to create a thriving CBD marketplace and identify areas for improvement. A complete UI overhaul was essential to establish a user-centric and visually appealing platform. Our design team focused on intuitive navigation and user-friendly functionalities.

To ensure a seamless connection between the marketplace and various components of the Poof ecosystem, a complete redevelopment of the existing APIs was necessary. This involved rebuilding the APIs with performance and scalability in mind to accommodate future growth and user traffic.

The integration of leading POS systems was vital for streamlining the purchasing experience. Integrating POS systems ensures inventory levels on the marketplace reflect real-time data, and retailers get real-time order details.

We also had to restructure the codebase to improve performance and overall efficiency. Moreover, we integrated secure and trusted payment methods.

What was done

In addressing the client's business challenges, our foremost objective was rectifying the issues of poor code quality and performance inherited from the previous development team. Additionally, we recognized the imperative of distinguishing the Poof marketplace amidst powerful competitors within the burgeoning Cannatech market of Canada.

To achieve this, we meticulously revamped the entire platform's UI/UX, leveraging a component-based approach to ensure scalability and agility in accommodating new features. Specifically, tailored solutions were devised for dispensaries, including an intuitive Admin Panel for streamlined order and statistics tracking and customizable iFrame menus for seamless integration into various websites.

Moreover, we developed a Progressive Web App (PWA) solution optimized for tablets, facilitating efficient order management. Our commitment to delivering on promises and maintaining transparent communication ensured the client's confidence and satisfaction throughout the development process.

Developed a multivendor marketplace

Our team architected and developed a sophisticated multivendor marketplace using cutting-edge technologies such as React.js for front-end development and PHP (Laravel) for backend functionality. This marketplace solution allowed vendors to easily register, upload their products, and manage their storefronts within the platform. Through robust APIs and database management systems, we ensured seamless interaction between vendors and customers, enabling efficient order processing, inventory management, and communication.

Made a complex UX/UI redesign

We embarked on a comprehensive redesign journey, employing industry-leading tools like Figma for wireframing, prototyping, and user interface design. By conducting extensive user research and usability testing, we identified pain points and opportunities for improvement, leading to a complete overhaul of the platform's interface and navigation structure. Leveraging React.js for front-end development, we implemented intuitive layouts, responsive designs, and interactive elements to enhance user engagement and satisfaction.

Created a feature-rich admin panel

Our team engineered a powerful and user-friendly admin panel using technologies like Laravel for backend development and AdminLTE for frontend design. This feature-rich panel empowered administrators with advanced tools for managing vendors, orders, and inventory effectively. Through custom dashboards, data visualization tools, and real-time analytics, we provided administrators with valuable insights and control over various aspects of the marketplace, streamlining backend operations and decision-making processes.

Included iFrame menus

To extend the platform's reach and integration capabilities, we added iFrame menus. This enabled vendors to embed their product catalogs seamlessly into their websites or external platforms. By customizing the iFrame menus to match each vendor's branding and design preferences, we helped sellers enhance their brand visibility and drive customer engagement.

Integrated payment gateways

Using secure protocols and encryption technologies, our team seamlessly integrated multiple payment gateways, including SkyFlow and Moneris. By providing customers with a variety of payment options, such as credit cards and digital wallets, we enhanced convenience and flexibility during the checkout process. Through rigorous testing and compliance checks, we ensured PCI DSS compliance and data security, safeguarding sensitive information and earning the trust of both vendors and customers.

Built a robust PWA solution

We developed a high-performing solution optimized for tablets by leveraging the power of Progressive Web App (PWA) technology. By implementing service workers, offline caching, and push notifications, we created a fast, reliable, and engaging PWA experience that rivaled a web version. This PWA solution allowed users to access the marketplace seamlessly from their tablets, regardless of network connectivity, enhancing accessibility and user engagement.

Added Cova cannabis retail software

Cova stands as a leading cannabis retail software across North America, catering to a diverse range of establishments, from small boutiques to expansive enterprise chains spanning multiple sites. Incorporating the Cova cannabis retail platform into the marketplace ecosystem significantly enhanced its functionality, offering retailers advanced inventory management, compliance features, and robust reporting tools. This seamless integration optimized operations, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
